farther down the road

a few months back, my grade school classmates had a batch reunion 18 years after graduation (from high school).  i guess it necessarily revealed our age but it is exactly somehow the point of why i thought of doing this blog.

it was a nice time reconnecting with old friends and classmates that we have not seen for 18 years and for some, maybe even more.  we have packed a lot of stories all these years  that could not be shared during the few hours of the reunion that we end up meeting for more coffee sessions later on just to share a part of us again with the people who used to be part of who we are.

true, we are almost totally different from the shy childish and insecure kids and adolescents we had been.  in the years in between, we had been busy living our respective lives - finishing school, establishing careers, building (and sometimes even breaking up) families, etc.  we had been girlfriends (as it is an exclusive school for girls), wives and mothers but we are also juggling being career women and being daughters and friends, peers, colleagues and even mentors, counselors, etc.

some have seen the world and walked the path of their dreams while others stayed on, some by choice and others by necessity.  but whatever the circumstances, we realized that our lives are always connected like a giant tapestry.  the threads that used to bind us in the age of innocence are still the ones that tie us together revealing shared experiences and allowing us to find in each other kindred spirits...walking the same journey, although maybe in parallel paths.

at this age, we face another batch of challenges necessarily different from what we previously encountered.  this is what i hope to share to show who might be able to relate to what the 30 somethings face at this age and time and how we try to bear each and every trial that are thrown our way.
